Job Location: Kitchener / Waterloo (Ontario)

Our client is a well-established multi-plant manufacturer and they are part of a large corporate group with facilities in North America, Europe and Asia.

Job Summary:

Assistant Manager of Accounting is responsible for direct supervision of the associates and activities in the accounts payable/receivable function as well as the training and performance management.  Ensures the timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers, maintains accurate records and control reports.  Negotiates with past due accounts, ensures outstanding account balance.  Weekly KPI, month end and year-end financial reporting and analysis.  Suggests and makes improvements to accounts payable/receivable and accounting and technology processes.  Uphold company policies of customer satisfaction through continuous improvement.

Responsibilities: (not limited to)

Oversee the direct associates and accounting operations in accounts payable and receivable

Conduct performance evaluations, positive corrective actions, and training of direct associates in accordance with company policy and procedures and practices

Ensure the processing of daily and weekly financial transactions and payments are done timely

Prepare and present reporting for weekly KPI and monthly business plan

Prepare and analyze month end and year-end financial transactions and reporting

Provide analysis for budgets, month end, and year-end financial reporting

Maintain accounting systems and spreadsheets

Complete requirements for J-SOX and corporate audit compliance

Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures

Prepare and present written and verbal financial reports

Perform related duties as required

Knowledge Base (not limited to)

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field

3+ years of related experience required

Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) incl: managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advanced formulas

Experience in SAP or similar financial information system

Strong financial and mathematical skills

Experienced in fast paced, high volume environment.
